Caring for Your NESTAVRO® Tableware

At NESTAVRO®, our ceramic bowls, plates, mugs, serving dishes, and decorative tableware are selected to bring warmth, character, and beauty to everyday dining.

Proper care can help maintain the appearance, finish, and usability of your ceramic pieces over time.

Because ceramic products vary in material, glaze, decorative finish, shape, and intended use, care requirements may differ between individual items.

Always follow the product-specific instructions provided on the applicable product page or with the item. Where those instructions differ from this general guide, the product-specific instructions take priority.

1. Before First Use

When your order arrives, carefully remove each ceramic item from its protective packaging.

Before using your tableware:

  • Inspect the item for visible cracks, chips, broken edges, or other damage.

  • Check that all pieces and accessories included in the order are present.

  • Remove any protective packaging materials.

  • Review the product description and care instructions.

  • If the item is intended for food contact, wash it gently according to its care instructions before first use.

  • Dry the item thoroughly before storing or using it.

If your order arrives damaged, defective, incomplete, or incorrect, contact our customer service team for assistance.

Do not use cracked, chipped, or broken ceramic tableware for food or beverages if the damage may compromise safety.

2. General Ceramic Cleaning

Gentle cleaning helps preserve the appearance of ceramic tableware and decorative finishes.

For routine cleaning:

  1. Allow the item to cool naturally before washing if it has been exposed to heat.

  2. Use lukewarm water and mild dish soap where appropriate.

  3. Clean gently with a soft sponge or non-abrasive cloth.

  4. Rinse thoroughly to remove soap residue.

  5. Dry with a soft, clean cloth or allow the item to air-dry completely.

Avoid using steel wool, harsh scouring pads, abrasive powders, or strong cleaning chemicals that may scratch or damage the surface.

For stubborn food residue, allow the item to soak briefly in lukewarm water if the product's care instructions permit soaking.

Do not use excessive force when removing residue from delicate decorative surfaces.

3. Dishwasher Safety

Not all NESTAVRO® ceramic products are dishwasher safe.

Dishwasher suitability depends on the specific ceramic material, glaze, decorative finish, and construction.

Some products may feature delicate patterns, specialty glazes, raised decorations, or decorative details that require hand washing.

Before placing an item in a dishwasher:

  • Confirm that the individual product is specifically identified as dishwasher safe.

  • Follow any temperature or cycle restrictions stated in the product instructions.

  • Position the item securely to reduce movement during washing.

  • Avoid overcrowding or allowing ceramic pieces to strike one another.

  • Use cleaning products suitable for the item.

If dishwasher suitability is not confirmed, we recommend gentle hand washing as a precaution.

4. Microwave, Oven & Heat Safety

Do not assume that all ceramic tableware is microwave safe, oven safe, or suitable for direct heating.

Heat resistance varies depending on the ceramic composition, glaze, decorative elements, and manufacturing specifications.

Microwave Use

Only place a ceramic item in a microwave if its product information or manufacturer instructions specifically confirm microwave suitability.

Items featuring metallic decoration, certain specialty finishes, or other incompatible materials should not be used in a microwave.

Oven Use

Only use ceramic products in an oven when they are specifically identified as oven safe.

Ordinary decorative bowls, mugs, and serving plates should not automatically be considered oven-safe cookware.

Stovetop Use

Do not place ceramic tableware directly on a stovetop, open flame, or heating element unless the product is expressly designed and approved for that purpose.

Hot Foods and Beverages

For bowls and mugs intended for hot foods or beverages, follow any stated temperature limitations.

Use care when handling heated ceramic items, as their surfaces may become hot.

5. Avoiding Thermal Shock

Sudden temperature changes can cause some ceramic products to crack or break.

To reduce the risk of thermal shock:

  • Avoid moving ceramic items directly from a refrigerator or freezer into a hot oven.

  • Do not pour boiling water into a cold ceramic vessel unless the product is specifically suitable for that use.

  • Allow heated ceramic pieces to cool gradually before washing.

  • Avoid placing very hot ceramic items directly onto cold or wet surfaces.

  • Follow the manufacturer's stated temperature limits where available.

Even ceramics designed for everyday dining may have different levels of thermal resistance.

6. Caring for Floral & Decorative Ceramic Designs

NESTAVRO® collections may include ceramic tableware featuring floral patterns, botanical illustrations, fruit motifs, textured details, and decorative glazes.

To help preserve their appearance:

  • Clean decorative surfaces gently.

  • Avoid abrasive sponges and harsh cleaning products.

  • Do not scrape decorative patterns with sharp utensils or metal tools.

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh chemicals.

  • Handle raised or delicate decorative elements carefully.

  • Follow any hand-washing requirements stated for the product.

Some decorative patterns or finishes may require more delicate handling than plain glazed ceramic surfaces.

Minor differences in pattern placement, glaze tone, or surface appearance may occur depending on the product and manufacturing process.

However, significant cracks, chips, or defects should not be treated as ordinary decorative variations.

7. Caring for Irregular & Sculptural Ceramic Shapes

Some NESTAVRO® products feature scalloped rims, flower-inspired shapes, irregular edges, or playful sculptural details.

These designs may require additional care during handling and storage.

We recommend:

  • Holding larger or unusually shaped pieces securely with both hands when appropriate.

  • Avoiding impacts against hard countertops or other ceramic items.

  • Taking extra care around raised edges and decorative projections.

  • Using protective separators when stacking compatible items.

  • Avoiding unnecessary pressure on delicate rims or handles.

Do not lift a heavy or filled ceramic piece by a decorative feature that is not intended to support its weight.

8. Ceramic Mugs & Handled Items

For ceramic mugs and other handled pieces:

  • Check the handle for visible cracks or damage before use.

  • Avoid striking the handle against hard surfaces.

  • Do not carry an item by a loose, cracked, or damaged handle.

  • Follow the product-specific guidance for hot beverages.

  • Clean around handle connections gently to remove residue.

  • Allow the item to dry completely before storage.

If a handle becomes cracked, loose, or damaged, discontinue use and contact customer service if the issue relates to a recent order or potential product defect.

9. Ceramic Bowls, Plates & Serving Dishes

For everyday ceramic dining pieces:

  • Place items on stable, level surfaces.

  • Avoid dropping or striking them against hard countertops.

  • Use suitable utensils to reduce unnecessary surface scratching.

  • Avoid cutting directly on delicate decorative surfaces unless the product is intended for that use.

  • Do not overload thin or decorative serving pieces.

  • Use caution when carrying large plates or bowls containing hot food.

Serving dishes and decorative platters should be used only for the purposes supported by their individual product specifications.

10. Food-Contact Suitability

Not every decorative ceramic product is necessarily intended for direct food contact.

Some ceramic pieces may be designed primarily for display or decorative purposes.

Before using a product to serve food or beverages, confirm that the product is intended for that use.

Do not assume that an item is food safe simply because it resembles a bowl, plate, or cup.

Follow any product-specific restrictions concerning food contact, hot liquids, acidic foods, or other intended uses.

If you are uncertain about a product's suitability, contact our customer service team before use.

11. Preventing Chips, Cracks & Scratches

Ceramic products may be damaged by impact, excessive pressure, improper handling, or sudden temperature changes.

To reduce the risk of damage:

  • Handle ceramic pieces carefully during washing and storage.

  • Avoid dropping items onto hard floors or countertops.

  • Do not strike ceramic pieces against one another.

  • Use soft separators when stacking suitable items.

  • Avoid placing excessive weight on delicate ceramic products.

  • Keep fragile pieces away from unstable edges and crowded storage areas.

Inspect frequently used items periodically for visible damage.

If you discover a crack, sharp chip, or structural defect, discontinue use where the damage may create a safety risk.

12. Storage Recommendations

Proper storage helps protect ceramic tableware between uses.

We recommend:

  • Storing ceramic items in a clean, dry location.

  • Placing bowls and plates on stable shelves.

  • Avoiding overcrowded cabinets.

  • Using protective liners or separators where appropriate.

  • Stacking only items designed to be safely stacked.

  • Keeping delicate handles, rims, and decorative elements from bearing excessive weight.

  • Avoiding unstable storage arrangements that could cause items to fall.

For long-term storage, ensure items are clean and completely dry before packing them away.

Use suitable protective wrapping for fragile pieces.

13. Decorative Display & Seasonal Tableware

NESTAVRO® ceramic collections may include playful seasonal designs and decorative serving pieces.

When displaying these products:

  • Place them on stable, level surfaces.

  • Keep them away from edges where they could fall.

  • Avoid direct contact with unstable decorations or heavy objects.

  • Keep fragile pieces out of reach of young children when appropriate.

  • Follow the product's intended-use instructions.

Products intended only for decoration should not be used for food preparation, food serving, or beverage consumption.

14. What to Do if Your Ceramic Product Arrives Damaged

Although ceramic products may be packed with protective materials, damage can occasionally occur during transportation.

If your order arrives with cracks, chips, broken pieces, missing components, or other defects:

  1. Stop using the affected item.

  2. Handle broken fragments carefully to avoid injury.

  3. Take clear photographs of the damaged product.

  4. Photograph the shipping packaging if available.

  5. Keep the order number and relevant delivery information.

  6. Contact service@nestavro.com with a description of the issue.

Please retain the packaging where reasonably possible until you receive further instructions.

Our customer service team will review the information and provide an appropriate resolution, which may include a replacement, refund, or another remedy in accordance with our Return & Refund Policy and applicable law.
